Forest Service Open House meetings

By Don Bremner

By far, the largest amount of recreational open space in the Angeles Chapter is in our two national forests, the Angeles and the Cleveland, but these areas aren’t safe from development. We need to let the Forest Service know that we want these critical natural areas protected. Sierra Club members have a great chance to have their voices heard as the Forest Service holds six open house meeting across the Angeles Chapter in May and June.
The most important thing to do is to make brief written comments at the open houses, supporting Forest Service Alternative 6 which is based on a plan written by the Sierra Club and other conservation organizations. Volunteers from the Southern California Forest Campaign, the Angeles Chapter’s Forest Task Force, and the Santa Ana Mountains Task Force will be stationed near the entrances to provide the latest version of suggested comment. Wear green!
